LISC/Chicago Tools and Publications
In 1998, LISC's Chicago site pioneered the NExT program under the name "New Communities Program." The program has since grown to include 16 different Chicago neighborhoods. Following are two tools developed by LISC/Chicago to support the community planning process:
Handbook to the Community Planning Process:
This handbook provides a roadmap to the community planning process. It provides guidelines for organizing the process, a sample schedule, and examples of components that could become part of the plan.

Getting it Done: New Tools for Communities:
This toolkit highlights LISC/Chicago New Communities Program's most effective tools: engagement, deal making, communicating, leveraging, planning, leading, playing, and evaluating. The document includes illustrative case studies and outlines key components for successful implementation of each tool.
